29 · Al-Ankaboot
وَقَارُونَ وَفِرْعَوْنَ وَهَامَانَ وَلَقَدْ جَٓاءَهُمْ مُوسٰى بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ فَاسْتَكْبَرُوا فِي الْاَرْضِ وَمَا كَانُوا سَابِق۪ينَۚ39
[Remember] Qarun and Pharaoh and Haman: Moses brought them clear signs, but they behaved arrogantly on earth. They could not escape Us
فَكُلًّا اَخَذْنَا بِذَنْبِه۪ۚ فَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ اَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِ حَاصِبًاۚ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ اَخَذَتْهُ الصَّيْحَةُۚ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ خَسَفْنَا بِهِ الْاَرْضَۚ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ اَغْرَقْنَاۚ وَمَا كَانَ اللّٰهُ لِيَظْلِمَهُمْ وَلٰكِنْ كَانُٓوا اَنْفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ40
and We punished each one of them for their sins: some We struck with a violent storm; some were overcome by a sudden blast; some We made the earth swallow; and some We drowned. It was not God who wronged them; they wronged themselves
مَثَلُ الَّذ۪ينَ اتَّخَذُوا مِنْ دُونِ اللّٰهِ اَوْلِيَٓاءَ كَمَثَلِ الْعَنْكَبُوتِۚ اِتَّخَذَتْ بَيْتًاۜ وَاِنَّ اَوْهَنَ الْبُيُوتِ لَبَيْتُ الْعَنْكَبُوتِۢ لَوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ41
Those who take protectors other than God can be compared to spiders building themselves houses- the spider’s is the frailest of all houses- if only they could understand
اِنَّ اللّٰهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا يَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِه۪ مِنْ شَيْءٍۜ وَهُوَ الْعَز۪يزُ الْحَك۪يمُ42
God knows what things they call upon beside Him: He is the Mighty, the Wise
وَتِلْكَ الْاَمْثَالُ نَضْرِبُهَا لِلنَّاسِۚ وَمَا يَعْقِلُهَٓا اِلَّا الْعَالِمُونَ43
Such are the comparisons We draw for people, though only the wise can grasp them
خَلَقَ اللّٰهُ السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضَ بِالْحَقِّۜ اِنَّ ف۪ي ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيَةً لِلْمُؤْمِن۪ينَ۟44
God has created the heavens and earth for a true purpose. There truly is a sign in this for those who believe
اُتْلُ مَٓا اُو۫حِيَ اِلَيْكَ مِنَ الْكِتَابِ وَاَقِمِ الصَّلٰوةَۜ اِنَّ الصَّلٰوةَ تَنْهٰى عَنِ الْفَحْشَٓاءِ وَالْمُنْكَرِۜ وَلَذِكْرُ اللّٰهِ اَكْبَرُۜ وَاللّٰهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَصْنَعُونَ45
[Prophet], recite what has been revealed to you of the Scripture; keep up the prayer: prayer restrains outrageous and unacceptable behaviour. Remembering God is greater: God knows everything you are doing
